Developing A Responsive Website

Join in the excitement as November kicks off our first month of Project Spotlight. Each month you will have the chance to read about one of our client’s new business venture. Whether they are new to the business world or reinventing themselves, read about who they are here!

This month we are showcasing the website for Appaloosa Trading Post. For anyone in the Waco, Texas area we highly encourage you to check out their store located at 3101 Robinson Dr, Waco TX 76706. Appaloosa Trading Post is a western store with a style all its own. From home furnishings and riding essentials, to western apparel, the store has a everything to compliment your western swagger.

Appaloosa Trading Post is one of several local businesses founded by the Johnson Family, whom have a long-standing and valued history in serving Central Texas. Johnson Roofing, Rodeo Pawn, and Johnson Motors are all local businesses owned and operated by the Johnson’s. The history of the store itself, has roots dating back to the 1960’s. Here is a excerpt from their website:

“JMB Ranch (Jack, Margaret, Bill) with standing sire Simcoe’s Chinook, became a hot spot in Appaloosa promotion with Chinook’s offspring winning competitions nationwide. The Johnson family worked hard to develop a selective breeding program and became well known for their knowledge and love of the horses. In 1960 they hosted their first annual Registered Appaloosa Production and Consignment Sale.”

The store recently had their Grand Re-Opening. We were approached by owner, Sherri Johnson, to develop a new website prior to the event. The goal was to implement a website that offered the same unique and appealing style as the store itself. As the store was preparing for the Grand Re-Opening, we didn’t have a large selection of visual collateral. What we did have, was a business with a great personality and large local fan base.

To compliment what Appaloosa Trading Post already offered, we designed a site with an appealing color scheme, strong social media integration, and unique on-screen assets visitors can freely interact with. A content management system was added, as we will look to add new inventory on a frequent basis.

We knew the store had a large following on Facebook. Just spend 5 min reading comments on their Facebook page, and you will see all of the positive feedback and support the store has from their local community. With this type of following, it was important the site we developed placed a large emphasis on customer appreciation. Visit the site and you will notice the large testimonial section right on the main page.

Finally, we knew the site had to be responsive. With such a large Facebook following, ensuring the site was not only accessible but aesthetically pleasing on mobile devices, was absolutely essential.

Rather than discuss each feature in length, we encourage you to take a look for yourself. Eko Media Solutions, has gained a lot of positive feedback regarding the site and we expect Appaloosatradingpost.com to become even more robust as we continue to add content and develop the site further. There is even talk of an e-commerce solution. Be sure to Like them on Facebook and Follow them on Twitter, @Appaloosa_TP, to stay up to date.

In the meantime, we would love to hear your feedback. Feel free to leave a comment below.

Until next time , thank y’all for reading,
